Looking forward to Ramadhan?

If you're looking forward to the month of Ramadhan, you're definitely in for treats. Going into the religious side of it, Ramadhan is a holy month for Muslims all round the world. It is also known as the fasting month where Muslims would fast - meaning refrain themselves from eating and drinking - from sunrise to sunset. Depending on where in the world you are, this is between 12 to 16 hours a day for the whole month, but in the polar regions, this can last up to 22 hours.

Locally, in Malaysia, in Sarawak and specifically where I am in Kuching, fasting typically lasts about 14 hours. For me, I'd start the day off with a light to medium meal before sunrise, go off about my day, have a light breaking of fast meal after sunset and have a more complete dinner or supper a little later. I'm gonna refer to the breaking of fast at sunset as iftar (it's easy, its common and you get to learn something new too ^_^)

The increasing trend that I do notice and occasionally into is to have a full spread buffet for iftar. Joining int he long list of restaurant and hotel operators that offers such buffet is ARIVA Serviced Residence. I was there for their food testing and to spread the news around for anyone shopping around for iftar buffet!

A little bit about the place first - ARIVA Serviced Residence is located at Jalan Bukit Mata - specific landmark is that it is on the same building as OCBC Bank, beside Segi College and across The Hills Shopping Mall (great location btw). I'll post the map here:

The F&B Operations is handled by one D'Atiqah Catering Services since August 2009. Mdm. Rosidah Ismail is the strong woman behind the name, and they offer catering services to government and corporate functions. The food? Scrumptious local Sarawak cuisines that will tickle your taste buds. Trust me, I had them. They are ssssooooo goood!!

So what's for iftar? Let's see the spread!
